Lisa Brener, the founder of Brener Law Firm, has practiced law for more than thirty years. She graduated from Louisiana State University Law School in 1983 in the top ten percent of her class, and was awarded the national honor of being made a member of the Order of the Coif. She also received an American Jurisprudence Award in Contracts. She clerked for United States District Judge Morey Sear, in the Eastern District of Louisiana.
In 2002, after having practiced law for almost twenty years, Ms. Brener took a year’s sabbatical to study for a Master’s in International and Comparative Law at Tulane Law School. After receiving her Master’s, she returned refreshed, to the active practice of law. She was a partner in a large, well-respect firm for several years, but prefers to practice in a more intimate environment and opened her firm at its current location on Magazine Street in 2013.
Ms. Brener has extensive trial experience is the areas of employment, business, real estate, healthcare, and family law. In 2012, she was named one of the top attorneys in New Orleans in the area of healthcare litigation. She has frequently been asked to speak in the area of employment law, and has judged national student trial and appellate competitions.
Ms. Brener has served on the boards of several philanthropic groups through the years, including several years on the board of the New Orleans Women’s Shelter. She is currently a Star Ambassador for the Volunteers of America. She enjoys spending time with her children, Max and Chelsea, and with her granddaughter, Rose. She also enjoys her reading group, creative writing, and theater.
